a lovely book ! - I`ve just finished reading this book and I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it! I agree with a previous review that it was a little like little house on a prairie but I loved that series when I was growing up anyway. I identified with Linnea, being a teacher myself, and the antics of the children that she taught. I especially enjoyed the development of the relationship between Linnea and Ted and the importance of family during this trying time in history. I bought this book after reading other reviews and now I`m looking for other books by this author. They have a lot to live up to!
Brilliant!!!!!!!! - This book was the first romance novel I ever read and is also one of my favourites!!!It is the story of Teddy and Linnea and all the problems they face as they fall in love. The good thing about this book is you really get to know the other characters as well without that detracting from the central characters.A definite must read!!!
Delicious - I have a new favorite to add to my book shelf!Such a wonderful story, full of salt of the earth people & great love. I hated to see the last page- I wished it to continue. This story stayed with me long after I finished reading it. I will be rereading this one many times again! This story is so wonderful that it could be made into a movie of epic proportions!
Simply my favourite book. - Lavyrle Spencer knows how to capture her readers interest, and Years is her best example of that. Linnea s inexperience at the beginning of the book, mixed with Theodore s stubborness is pure delight and I found myself longing for them to unite. This book fills the heart, ignites your emotions and will leave you laughing, crying and sometimes angry as you follow the simple story of these two mismatched lovers. You will fall in love with Theodore, and feel the emotions as the characters themselves feel them. I have read this book over and over again and never tire of it. It is beatifully written, simple yet filled with interest. Romance and much more, but definitely Spencer at her best.
A heartwarming, romantic, value oriented, life story. - I have read this book over and over and will continue to do so for a lifetime! The story is not only a love story, but it also teaches values that seemed to have been lost in this day and age. The author describes the landscape in breathtaking detail. You feel as if you are there! The characters are full and rich. The heroine is young, gutsy and what every woman could wish to be. The hero is not typical, cranky, shy, strong and honorable. This couple actually waits until they are married to make love!! I laughed, yearned for them and cried with them. It is a book that will leave a warm feeling in your heart. You will never want to see it end.
